Cairn Terrier facts and Origins
The Cairn Terrier originates from Scotland and was bred originally for hunting and killing rats and mice. It's origins can be dated back to the Middle Ages. The Cairn Terrier is most famous as it was the breed of dog who played Toto in the movie the Wizard of Oz. This dog is classified as one of the Terrier Dog Group. The Cairn Terrier was first Registered by the The Kennel Club in 1911.

Description of the Cairn Terrier Dog
The Cairn Terrier's coat is normally a shade of cream, wheaten, red, grey or nearly black. The coat is normally harsh, long, weather resistant outer coat with an abundant soft undercoat.The Terrier dogs are small to medium size and always stand proud as if to say look at me.They are independent dogs but are not difficult to train.The Cairn Terrier can and will be friendly, stable and loyal pets.
